The Slough council and town advisory group are providing town wardens to advise and help shoppers during the Christmas period.
On late night shopping days and every day from 15 December Slough town wardens dressed in distinctive clothing will be on hand to offer advice, directions and assistance to town centre visitors.
The Slough town wardens will be made up of the council’s community warden team and volunteer council staff as well as security staff from the town advisory group.
Cllr Rob Anderson, leader of Slough Borough Council, said: “We want to ensure we have a visible presence around the town centre during the Christmas period so residents and visitors to the town can ask for advice and directions and feel reassured as they shop in our town.”
Paul Clifford, Centre Manager, Queensmere and Observatory, said: "Slough’s shoppers feeling secure and safe when they visit is as critical an element as any other part of the shopping experience.
“I am delighted by the councils support with this initiative at such short notice which again shows not only the improved communication between the towns retailers and the council, but more importantly their desire to deliver."
