Wanted man arrested in Slough

A man who absconded from HMP Ford, West Sussex, earlier this year was arrested in Slough on 18/12.

Thirty-three-year-old Nigel Carpenter, formerly of North Street, Slough, absconded from prison on the 11 July 2009 while serving a sentence for armed robbery and being in possession of an imitation firearm.

Following intelligence and information gathered, a proactive policing operation was carried out this morning and Carpenter was arrested at an address in Moray Drive, Slough, shortly after 9.30am.

He remains in police custody this afternoon.

Supt Chris Shead, Local Police Area Commander for Slough, said: “I am pleased with today’s operation, which has resulted in the arrest of a wanted man. It was meticulously planned and involved a number of armed officers, supported by local officers, carrying out a warrant this morning.”
