Two men arrested in connection with a murder in Slough remain in police custody this morning (8/4).
Detectives have been granted n extension to question the pair – one in his late 20s and the other in his early 40s. Both were arrested at an address in Slough on Sunday (5/4).
Their arrest is in connection with the murder of a man whose body was found in an alleyway off Cumberland Avenue, Manor Park, Slough, during the early hours of Friday (3/4).
Slough Detectives have made progress in identifying the victim, whom they believe is Asian and in his early twenties. However a formal identification is yet to take place. It is anticipated that this will take place shortly, although a date has not as yet been fixed.
Supt Rob Mason, leading the investigation, said: “The investigation is making good progress with a number of inquiries still in hand.
“I am hoping that the victim will be formally identified shortly. Family liaison officers have now been appointed and are in a position to offer their support during this difficult time.
“It remains my team’s top priority to establish what exactly happened and to bring those responsible to justice.
“I would like to stress that the motive for the murder remains under investigation and we are currently keeping an open mind. It would therefore be wholly irresponsible for anyone to speculate, as this is not only upsetting for the family who have lost their loved one, but because it does nothing to help our investigation and provide reassurance in the community.
“There is no evidence at this time to suggest that this was a racist or gang related killing.
“I’m also aware that there are rumours circulating as to how the victim was murdered, speculating what weapons may have been used.
“We have recovered a weapon which we believe was used during the attack. It is currently being forensically examined. Whilst I cannot disclose what it is at this time, for operational reasons, I can confirm it is not an axe or machete as has been reported.
“I would like to reassure the community of Slough that no stone will be left unturned during this investigation, which is fast moving. “
