Slough Borough Council will be manning an information stand offering advice on noise reduction as part of Noise Action Week, from October 27 to 31.
The Slough stand will be at the Queensmere Centre from 10am to 2pm, and staff from the council’s neighbourhood enforcement team will be giving information on how to keep the noise down.
Noise can annoy, cause stress and generally affect residents’ quality of life. It’s the biggest cause of complaint between neighbours.
In 2007, the Slough neighbourhood enforcement team received 434 complaints and served 18 notices to abate noise, and this year they hope resident’s will keep the noise down.
Diane Viechweg, from the neighbourhood enforcement team at Slough Borough Council, said: “Noise nuisance is a top priority for the council, particularly in the autumn months with fireworks and celebrations.
“Noise can cause stress and affect quality of life and is often the biggest cause of complaint between neighbours.
“We’re reminding people to consider their neighbours when planning parties or gatherings to prevent problems caused by excessive noise.”
Cllr Shafiq Chaudhry, commissioner for Slough community and leisure, said: “I hope residents will visit the stand to get advice on how to stay on good terms with their neighbours.
“If noise persists, or you feel you can’t speak to your neighbour, contact the neighbourhood enforcement team on 01753 875255.”
