Steps 2 Slough Employment Forum

Slough Borough Council will be holding its second free employment forum for anyone either fearing redundancy, thinking about a career change or getting back into work.

The Slough workshop, part of an on-going programme of support for unemployed people, will be on Tuesday, August 11, at The Centre on Farnham Road from 5.30pm to 8.30pm and will include a light buffet.

It will help increase Slough residents chances of getting back into work in spite of the recession and help them discover tips about how they can land their dream job. There will also be a chance to join the support project Buddy Scheme.

Those attending can also network with a number of voluntary organisations and speak to others who are also looking for work and share experiences.

On the day, the event will cover

* Interview Skills Workshop
* How to Job Search efficiently
* How to apply for Public Sector Job

Rafiq Chohan, assistant director economic development and inclusion at Slough Borough Council, said: “This event is perfect for anyone thinking about employment, whether it’s getting back into the work place or people fearing redundancy.

“The council is committed to improving the local economy and skills of local people to bring prosperity for all.”

Commissioner for opportunity and skills, Cllr Fiza Matloob, added: “This is a great opportunity for anyone to go along and find out about employment in Slough. It will also be a chance to network and gain advice.

“We are committed to doing anything we can to support our local population.”
