Slough Canal Festival 2009

Slough Borough Council’s popular Canal Festival is back for 2009 with an array of fun and activities for all the family – and all for free.

The Slough event, on Saturday 12 September and Sunday 13 September from 11am to 5pm, will be in Bloom Park, Middlegreen Road, Langley.

It is open to everyone with free activities for all the family, such as:

* Arts and crafts
* Canal wares
* Canal fishing
* Boat trips (small fee applies)
* Hawk and falcon experience
* Healthy walks
* Kid’s activities
* Dog agility
* Ferret racing
* Mobile farm
* Refreshments
* Meet the Dulux dog on Sunday
* And lots more.

The Festival is a well established event, which attracts anywhere between 500 to 1000 visitors over two days. The main aim of the event is to promote the Slough arm of the Grand Union Canal which runs for five miles and gives an insight into the history of narrow boats.

The festival is sponsored by Akzo Nobel, makers of Dulux paints, Slough Express and supported by Inland Waterways.

Entrance to the festival, and parking, is free and gates open from 11am to 5pm on both days. There is access for wheelchairs. For more details, call 01753 875194.
