Show me up in Slough

Slough Young Peoples Centre’s (SYPC) will be performing its latest production, The Show Me up Showcase, on November 18 at 7pm at the West Wing Theatre.

The Slough show, which is free to all, will be performed by the students of The Star Academy and The Afterhours Arts Academy, with curtains up at 7pm.

The Slough students, aged between 13 and 25, have been working hard over the last ten weeks to produce different performances such as street and break dancing, acting and MC’ing, along with graffiti artists, singers, musicians, and TV and radio presenting.

Shante Hudson, youth development officer for SYPC, said: “The young people have been so motivated and driven by this opportunity and can’t wait to get on stage and perform.

“Performing at the West Wing Theatre in front of an audience will be an experience they won’t forget in a hurry.”

Commissioner for Slough opportunity and skills, Cllr Patricia O’Connor, added: “Good luck to all the young people who will be performing on the night.

“It’s always great to see young people using their talents and I do hope many residents will go along to the West Wing to show their support.”

SYPC offers young people information and advice, as well as employment and business support and creative courses, projects and events.

It’s open five days a week for drop in sessions from 2pm to 5.30pm, Monday to Tuesday and Thursday to Saturday, to support any queries young people may have.

The Slough Arts Academies run for three terms a year, providing performing arts and new media courses for 13 to 25 year olds. The Enterprise Centre supports young people seeking employment or Business support.
