Scambusters the Slough musical

Slough Borough Council’s trading standards will be putting on a special show for residents about the perils of being scammed by rogue traders and false competitions.

Don’t let rogue traders spoil your life.Based on true stories, the scambuster musical, Too good to be true, sees Sydney become victim of a rogue tarmac tradesman, whilst Mary’s conned into thinking she’s won a holiday of a lifetime.

Performed by professional actors with music from the 60s, the musical presents an energetic live story-telling event guaranteed to entertain and educate.

Keith Eaglestone, trading standards manager for Slough Borough Council, said: “The musical will be lots of fun, but it does hold an extremely serious message.

“Many people fall victim to rogue traders or companies trying to get money out of them for nothing in return. I hope many people call up for tickets to see the performance, as it could save them a lot of heartache.”

Commissioner for Slough community and leisure, Cllr Shafiq Chaudhry, added: “It’s vital that residents in the borough are made aware of scams and bogus traders.

“It’s heartbreaking to hear of people being ripped-off by callous con artists posing as legitimate traders.

“This musical will help to put the point across that, if it seems too good to be true, then it usually is.”

This is a ticket only event on September 23 at the Langley Pavilion community and conference centre, and there will be two performances at 10.30am and again at 1.15pm. Please call 01753 875255 for the free tickets.
