Motorcyclists in Slough are being offered the chance to improve their riding skills with a generous 50 percent reduction on a local training scheme.
Slough Borough Council and its partner, Thames Valley Advanced Motorcyclists (TVAM), have made it possible to offer an advance riders training course at half price, from £139 to £69.50.
TVAM meets in Wokingham and has more than 1,000 members. The Slough council has given £2,000 towards the training, which is ongoing and open to anyone wishing to gain more experience on their motorbike.
The scheme has become a real success and is now in its second season, with limited places, so people need to book fast.
Michael Seatory, road safety officer for Slough Borough Council, said: “Motorcyclists are vulnerable, so it’s important they have the skills to reduce the chances of being involved in a crash.
“We want to encourage more riders to take some training, and reduce the number of injuries sustained by riders on Slough’s roads every year.”
Commissioner for Slough neighbourhoods and renewal, Cllr James Swindlehurst, added: “It’s very important bikers take the opportunity to train up to make sure they’re safer on the roads, and at half price, this scheme is a bargain.”
If you have a full motorcycle licence and live or work in Slough, please call Dave Simmons at TVAM on 07050 001415. The cost to join includes a full year’s membership, plus test fee.
