The unique Radar outside Slough MyCouncil on the High Street was taken down yesterday, Wednesday, September 2, after council officials noticed structural problems in the artwork.
It was dismantled by Slough council who is now in discussions with the company who made the structure, as well as the people who installed it.
A Slough council spokesperson said: “We are very disappointed this unique piece of artwork had to be taken down, but due to our priority for the health and safety of the public, we took the decision it should be taken away immediately.
“We are now in talks with the artists who designed the feature, along with the two companies who made and installed it for an alternative piece to take its place.”
As there has never been a similar piece of artwork like this before in the UK, it was impossible to determine whether the structure, once in place, would have problems. An alternative is now being sought.
