Manor Park Slough Young People’s Centre will be presenting a special performance by UK Grime artist Ghetts, at its open day on Saturday, February 7.
Slough Children, young people and parents are all invited to come along between 10am and 4pm and take part in a day of sports activities, smoothie making and an open mic session.
In the afternoon, Ghetts will perform some of his hits with the young people.
There will also be a chance to invent a tasty new Slough flavoured smoothie in preparation for the centre’s Smoothie Challenge Day on February 17. There will be a range of fruit and vegetables on offer to challenge young people to create the most interesting and fun flavoured drink.
The young people at the centre have also arranged a pool, table tennis and football tournament to get everyone involved and everyone who attends will be put into a prize draw to win an iPod Nano.
Samena Mehmood, lead youth worker for Slough Borough Council, said: “We’re opening our doors for everyone to come and see the fantastic range personal development opportunities for young people.
“Whether you’re a budding rapper or just want to try your hand at creating a smoothie, come on down and get involved with the fun.
“It’s not just for young people, parents are also welcome to see what we do here.”
Cllr Sukhjit Dhalliwal, commissioner for Slough education and children’s services, said: “The open day is bound to be action packed. If you’ve never attended your local young people’s centre before, I would definitely recommended heading down to see what you’re missing.
“From sports to crafts, girls’ only nights and evenings for people with disabilities or special needs, Manor Park Young People’s Centre is a great place to get involved.”
