New website for Slough libraries

A new website for Slough Borough Council’s libraries will be launched on Monday, July 21, with news on events, services and fun and exciting pages just for children and teens.

The launch will be held at Slough Library, with drinks and light refreshments provided after the Mayor of Slough officially opened the new site for residents.

Visitors can log onto http://www.slough.gov.uk/libraries and browse book reviews, recommended reads, see what CDs, DVDs, and console games are for hire, and find out what’s new in stock.

Users can also make online enquiries and check the library catalogue. Recommended weblinks, online subscription websites and the community information database are also available for finding information 24/7.

Anne Hayward, senior librarian for Slough Borough Council, said: “We’re very excited about the new website.

“It will give residents so much information about our services and there’s lots of fun to be had for children and young people on the site.”

Community and leisure, Cllr Shafiq Chaudhry, added: “The new website will be very handy for residents to help them find out about services and what’s going on in their local library. “It’s one of the council’s priorities to make libraries more accessible and the website will certainly contribute to that.

“I hope that many people will use it.”
