Pupils from Littledown School, Slough will now be able to get innovative support in a relaxing environment with the opening of a brand new therapy room.
The therapy room is a place for Slough pupils with social and emotional behavioural difficulties to spend time in a calming environment.
The room was furnished thanks to £4,400 from the Slough Public Hall Trust, which was founded in the1800’s to support the education of people in Slough.
The room was decorated by the Slough school and filled with a wonderful range of equipment, including:
* A bubble tube
* A sensory caterpillar
* Mirrors for the walls
* A large beanbag
* A UV light and glow in the dark letters and numbers
* A light and sandbox
* Soundscape CDs
* Puppets
Angela Mumford, deputy headteacher at Littledown School, said: “The new therapy room will provide pupils with a safe space to relax and explore and develop their understanding of emotions and how to manage frustrations.
“It will also provide a space for them to work with adults on specific literacy and maths programmes. We’d like to express our thanks to the Slough Public Hall Trust for this wonderful outlet for our pupils.”
Cllr Sukhjit Dhalliwal, commissioner for Slough education and children’s services, said: “This is a fantastic resource for pupils, and the generous donation from the Slough Public Hall Trust is much appreciated.”
