Keeping our Slough vulnerable adults safe

Slough Borough Council has launched a new campaign across the town to raise awareness of abuse suffered by vulnerable adults, who due to age, disability or illness are too frail or vulnerable to protect themselves from exploitation and harm.

Led by the Slough council’s safeguarding adult’s team, the campaign will make people aware that abuse is wrong and provide advice on how to report suspected abuse.

Cllr Chrissy Small and assistant director for Slough adult social care put up and information poster about protecting vulnerable adultsCommissioner for health and wellbeing, Cllr Chrissy Small said; “This is an extremely important initiative. I truly believe, as the older people’s champion in town, that safeguarding vulnerable adults from abuse is everyone’s business.

"This is a top priority for us, and all agencies, services and residents of Slough need to work together to increase awareness and stop abuse from happening.”

Alex Bayliss, service manager for safeguarding for Slough Borough Council, added: "We’re calling on people in Slough to report any suspected abuse so we can look into it.

"Slough residents will see new public information posters in key locations across the town, which provide important information about abuse and how to report it.

"The posters will be found in leisure centres, libraries, council offices, local hospitals and health clinics.’’

Jane Wood, strategic director for community and wellbeing at Slough Borough Council explained: “Abuse can take many different forms and people can be abused for many different reasons. It is important people living and working in Slough have the information they need to identify abuse and know how to report it."

Anyone who suspects someone they know is being abused should call 01753 690 444.
