Inside Slough Justice Week

Slough Borough Council has organised an event at the Queensmere Shopping Centre on Wednesday, October 21 from 11am to 3 for the annual Inside Justice Week, which gives residents the chance to look behind the scenes of the Criminal Justice System (CJS) across England and Wales.

The annual Slough public awareness week, which runs from October 17 to 24, gives people the opportunity to get a better look at the work of many agencies working within the CJS, including the police, magistrates and probation service.

This is a great opportunity for agencies to come together and talk to residents face to face.

On the day, Slough residents can talk to –

* Thames Valley Police
* The courts and probation service
* Witness and victim services
* Community safety team
* Crime reduction unit

Kam Bhatti, neighbourhood crime and justice co-ordinator for Slough Borough Council, said: “The council is committed to creating safer communities and making Slough a safer place to be, as well as helping people feel safe in the town.

“The aim of the awareness day is to engage with residents and help them understand and raise their confidence in the criminal justice agencies.”

Commissioner for Slough neighbourhoods and renewal, Cllr James Swindlehurst, added: “Crime, or the fear of crime, affects everybody, and national weeks like this open up an opportunity for residents to speak to all those involved with the criminal justice system.”
