A special event aimed at small and medium sized enterprises (SME) has been organised by Slough’s Local Strategic Partnership to help companies win more business and cut their costs by going green.
The event will happen on June 2 from 6pm to 9pm at The Centre, Farnham Road, Slough, SL1 4UT.
The initiative is a joint effort between Slough Borough Council, Business Link, Federation of Small Businesses, Slough Business Community Partnership, SEGRO, Enterprise, Energy Saving Trust, Slough Business Environment Club, Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce and Slough Business Environment Club.
Up to 100 Slough businesses will hear guest speakers on energy, recycling and transport. It will be a great opportunity for people to network and find out how others have attracted new customers by becoming greener.
At the event, businesses will learn about:
* Energy Saving Trust eco-driving simulator to test-drive your efficiency behind the whee
* Green Market with 26 information tables on energy efficiency, recycling, waste minimisation, transport and water conservation
* Information on grants and advice services for SME
* Free buffet
* Q&A panel
Denise Alder, chair of the local strategic partnership group on climate change, said: “This event will help Slough’s companies to win new business, cut costs and reduce their carbon emissions.
“It’s one of the council’s commitments to improve the local economy to bring prosperity for all and to keep Slough a greener place to be.”
Jane Wallis, Slough Business Link adviser, added: “Times are hard and margins are small this year, so why not come and learn the true meaning of efficiency – doing the same (or more) but with less.
“Small measures add up to big savings. SMEs are inherently green compared to their corporate counterparts, and I’ve helped hundreds of small businesses exploit this with free advice, free service providers and low or no cost measures, grants and loans to tidy up the rest.”
The event is sponsored by Slough Enterprise and SEGRO.
