Slough Borough Council is inviting residents to come along to a community fun day run by the Foxborough Spoke, at Langley Village Club, Cheviot Road on February 19.
Foxborough Spoke is part of the council’s Slough Hub and Spoke for Neighbourhood and Community Learning, funded by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA).
The Slough programme brings together local partners, learning providers and the voluntary and community sector to develop local opportunities and co-ordinated provision supporting Slough people into training and employment.
The event runs from 10.30am to 2.30pm and is open to all Slough residents to find out about courses being delivered in the town and how to access employment support and careers advice.
Information and advice officers will provide careers, training and employment advice on the day or can book people in for a more in-depth session.
There will be a number of learning and other service providers to talk to, including Sure Start who can advise on jobs in childcare and the children’s centres.
Charu McNulty, hub and spoke coordinator for Slough Borough Council, said: “The Foxborough Community fun day will be beneficial for many residents in the town.
“There will be lots of professional people to speak to and gain advice about work and training and it’s all free, so I hope to see many people there.”
Commissioner for Slough opportunity and skills, Cllr Patricia O’Connor, added: “I would urge anyone looking to work, train or maybe to change career, to go along to the fun day event.
“This is a great opportunity to seek advice and guidance easily and conveniently as it is all under one roof”
Residents can also find out about jobs with the fire service, which will be carrying out home safety demos and providing valuable advice on safety, along with Thames Valley Police who will be offering free bike marking and advice on crime prevention.
Children won’t be left out, as there will be activities from henna to face painting, with make-up demonstrations for adults, all free of charge.
In addition residents can come and have a free family portrait done.
Food and drink will also be available at a very reasonable price. For further information, call 01753 443830.
