Foxborough School wins Slough walk to school week

Foxborough School won this year’s Slough Walk to School Week and were presented with a trophy from Horlicks in a special assembly, on Friday, July 4.

More than 80 percent of the pupils walked to school during the week of 19 to 23 May, along with their families.

Horlicks presented the excited children with a special Horlicks trophy and £150 worth of book vouchers.

Caroline Townsend, senior road safety officer for Slough Borough Council, said: “Congratulations to Foxborough School for such a great achievement.

“It’s very important to try and get as many children as possible to walk to school, not only for the exercise, but to help maintain a healthy lifestyle.”

Walking improves children’s road safety skills as they learn how to cross roads and become more aware of vehicles on the road, which they wouldn’t if being driven to school.

Commissioner for Slough education and children’s services, Cllr Sukhjit Dhaliwal, added: “Well done to all the children involved.

“I’m sure they’re very proud of their trophy and of their healthy option to walk, rather than be driven, to school.”
