Slough Borough Council’s food safety team have successfully prosecuted a business owner for £1,998 after violating food safety regulations.
Mr Gurinder Singh Sanghera of New Panjab Tandoori, Stoke Poges Lane, Slough was taken to court by the council on Friday September 4 to plead guilty to eight food and safety offences.
These were -
* Failing to put in place, implement and maintain a permanent procedure or procedures based on the HACCP principles
* Failing to keep the food premises clean
* Failing to protect food from contamination during production
* Failing to maintain equipment in such good order, repair and condition as to minimise any risk of contamination
* Failing to maintain equipment in good order, repair and condition as to enable it to be kept clean and where necessary to be disinfected
* Failing to keep equipment clean
* Failing to make adequate provisions for the storage and disposal of food waste
* Failing to ensure that the ceiling was constructed and finished so as to prevent the accumulation of dirt and to reduce condensation, the growth of undesirable mould and the shedding of particles
For each Slough offence he was fined £100, was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and full costs to the council of £1,183.
A Collections Order was also made against Mr Sanghera.
Julie Snelling, principal technical enforcement officer for Slough Borough Council, said: “We are committed to looking after the health and wellbeing of residents in the borough, so checks like these in food business in the town are paramount.”
Commissioner for Slough community and leisure, Cllr Shafiq Chaudhry, added: “All food businesses should take note – Slough Borough Council will not accept anything but the best in food safety and hygiene.”
