Family fun day at Slough Arbour Vale School

Arbour Vale School, Slough will be hosting a fantastic family fun day for disabled children and their families on Thursday, August 21.

Sponsored by the Slough Interagency Disabled Children and Young People’s Database, the day will host an array of enjoyable activities for the whole family including:

* A bouncy castle
* Art and craft activities
* Henna painting
* Petting farm
* An owl display
* A puppet show
* A fire engine display and much more.

There will be an information point to find out about local Slough services supporting children with learning difficulties and disabilities, and the chance to join the Disabled Children’s Database, which gathers information on children’s needs to keep service developers and planners informed.

The event has been organised by Slough staff and external agencies including Crossroads, Disability Sports, Mencap, Family Welfare Association, Parvaaz, Lets Co-operate, Carers Support, Parent Partnership, Children and Young Person Information Service, YOT, and Friends of Slough.

Families can make the most of the day by bringing a picnic lunch, or enjoy the light refreshments on offer.

Jackie Wright, head of services for children with learning difficulties and disabilities at Slough Borough Council, said: “We are responding to requests from families for activities in the summer holidays.

“The day will give them the chance to socialise with other children in a fun environment.”

Cllr Sukhjit Dhaliwal, commissioner for Slough education and children, said: “We hope to see you down there enjoying the activities.”
