Slough Borough Council’s neighbourhood wardens and neighbourhood enforcement team have been busy keeping the streets of Slough free and clear of fly-tipping.
The Slough team began to clear fly-tip items which had been left behind The Game Store and The Curtain Shed shop at 158 High Street, along with more rubbish found at 198 High Street.
The huge amounts of rubbish were spotted whilst the Slough team were carrying out an early morning patrol of the High Street and surrounding areas.
With the help and compliance of the landlords, all areas were cleared and will now be closely monitored. The council workers’ efforts go hand-in-hand with the authority’s priority of keeping Slough a cleaner, safer place to live.
Linda Corcoran, community warden for Slough Borough Council, said: “We noticed the fly-tipping and waste on one of our morning patrols and decided we needed to do something about it.
“Now the area is all cleaned up, it just shows that with help from us and complying landlords, the job can get done.”
Commissioner for Slough neighbourhoods and renewal, Cllr James Swindlehurst, added: “I am so pleased our community wardens and the enforcement team are being proactive at keeping Slough a cleaner and safer place to be.
“It’s appalling some people think it’s acceptable to dump rubbish around the town, spoiling it for the law abiding majority. Hopefully, we can monitor the situation and may even catch some perpetrators.”
