Community safety day for Slough residents

Slough Borough Council, along with the Safer Slough Partnership, is inviting residents to go along to its community safety day on November 8 at Slough Library from 10am to 3pm.

The Slough council’s drugs and community safety team will be on hand giving advice on drugs, alcohol, anti-social behaviour and general community safety tips. The day will consist of information stands and a question and answer session with senior members of the Safer Slough Partnership.

Residents who visit during the morning will be given a ticket for the Q&A session in the afternoon and will be able to submit questions for the panel.

The information stands will be at three separate locations on the second floor of the Slough library and cover subjects such as -

* Information about Safer Slough Partnership and what it does
* An opportunity for residents to talk about their main community safety concerns
* Drug services and how they can be accessed
* Operation Falcon (police operations against drug-dealers)
* Alcohol and what is being done to address the issue
* Neighbourhood policing and how residents can help
* How crime is being tackled
* Information on what the council are doing about anti-social behaviour

The Q&A session, which starts at 2pm, will take place in the meeting room on the third floor of the library.

Ruth Bagley, Chief Executive for Slough Borough Council, will visit the event between 10am and 1pm.

James Priestman, head of drugs and community safety for Slough Borough Council, said: “This day will be very informative for those residents who want to get involved in their community and make a difference.

“There will be a variety of information at hand and will give people the chance to ask us any questions or let us know how they feel about Slough.”

Commissioner for neighbourhoods and renewal, Cllr James Swindlehurst, added: “I hope many residents take this opportunity to come along to the information day and find out what we and our partners, Safer Slough Partnership, are doing to help keep Slough a safer place to live.”
